Profile-specific fitting requirements
Performance valve springs are required. Performance spring retainers are required. Fitting the specified hardware requires machining. Use the specified performance valve seals. For an automatic transmission, Crow specifies converter stall at or above the lower end of the cam’s operating range. The listed operating range applies to the 308; increase both ends by 500 rpm for a 253. For flat-tappet installation, Crow recommends two bottles of ZDDP additive: one for run-in and one for the first oil change. Follow Crow’s current run-in procedure and the product dosing instructions.

The installer must check cam timing, piston-to-valve clearance, spring installed height, coil bind, retainer-to-seal clearance, pushrod length and rocker geometry.
