Haltech Nexus R5 VCU is Haltech’s flagship vehicle control unit, combining high-end engine management, integrated power distribution, dual wideband control, data logging and communications in one controller.

R5 capability

Up to 18 peak-and-hold injector drives and 12 ignition outputs.
Four 25A high-current outputs plus twelve 8A high-side outputs for integrated power management.
Dual onboard NTK / Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband control.
23 analogue voltage inputs, 10 synchronised pulsed inputs and dual knock inputs.
Three CAN networks, USB-C, onboard Wi-Fi and 512MB internal logging.
Dual drive-by-wire control plus advanced boost, CO2, launch, traction, anti-lag, torque-management and engine-protection strategies.
Suitable for engines up to 12 cylinders or six rotors when the application requires advanced race functions and power management.

Choosing the package

Select the ECU/VCU-only option when building or adapting a custom harness. Choose a plug-and-pin or universal-harness package when the installation requires the associated connector or wiring kit. Confirm engine I/O requirements, throttle strategy, wideband sensor type and installation layout before ordering.

Throttle / DBW suitability

DBW supported: Cable throttle and drive-by-wire (DBW) are supported. Nexus R3/R5 provide dual DBW throttle control.

Generic CAN (GCAN) — Current Beta Feature

Haltech identifies this Nexus ECU / display platform as eligible for Generic CAN (GCAN), its user-programmable CAN messaging feature. GCAN is provided at no additional licence cost on eligible Nexus hardware and can also be enabled on existing eligible units through the applicable firmware update.

Create custom CAN messages for supported third-party devices and systems.
Useful for OEM dash retention, CAN sensors, steering-wheel / switch controls, ABS data, loggers and other custom CAN integrations.
Haltech currently specifies support for up to 30 CAN frames and 200 signals.

Important: GCAN is currently released by Haltech as a beta feature. Access requires opting into the applicable beta software / firmware through NSP. Check Haltech's current GCAN release instructions before updating, back up the existing configuration first and verify all connected-device operation after the update.
