Haltech Nexus S2 Plug'n'Play Adaptor Harness Kit - Mazda MX5 NA (HT-212316) is a complete Haltech Nexus S2 plug-and-play ECU package for supported Mazda MX-5 / Miata NA 1.6L and 1.8L factory-ECU applications. It combines the Nexus S2 ECU with a vehicle-specific adaptor harness so supported vehicles can retain the factory engine loom while gaining modern Haltech tuning, logging and control capability.

Throttle compatibility — Factory cable throttle + DBW-capable ECU: This plug-and-play package is designed around the vehicle's factory cable-throttle arrangement. The Nexus S2/S3 ECU itself supports dual DBW, but converting the vehicle to electronic throttle requires additional/custom throttle and APP wiring and is not included in the plug-and-play kit.

Application notes

• Does not support USDM OBD-II 1996–1997, Special Edition SE or Anniversary models.
• Manual 1.6L applications require the factory throttle-position sensor to be removed/unplugged and a full-range TPS fitted. Operating without the correct full-range TPS can cause erratic wide-open-throttle behaviour and may damage the ECU.
• Using the Nexus S2 rather than the S3 reduces some factory functionality on this application; refer to Haltech’s quick-start guide for details.

Built by Boost & Tune is an authorised Haltech dealer. We can verify fitment, supply and install the kit, integrate sensors and CAN devices, perform first-start checks and dyno-calibrate the ECU for the vehicle’s combination.

Generic CAN (GCAN) — Current Beta Feature

Haltech identifies this Nexus ECU / display platform as eligible for Generic CAN (GCAN), its user-programmable CAN messaging feature. GCAN is provided at no additional licence cost on eligible Nexus hardware and can also be enabled on existing eligible units through the applicable firmware update.

• Create custom CAN messages for supported third-party devices and systems.
• Useful for OEM dash retention, CAN sensors, steering-wheel / switch controls, ABS data, loggers and other custom CAN integrations.
• Haltech currently specifies support for up to 30 CAN frames and 200 signals.

Important: GCAN is currently released by Haltech as a beta feature. Access requires opting into the applicable beta software / firmware through NSP. Check Haltech's current GCAN release instructions before updating, back up the existing configuration first and verify all connected-device operation after the update.
