Haltech Nexus R3 VCU

Haltech Nexus R3 VCU combines engine management, onboard power distribution, wideband control and high-speed logging in one compact Nexus controller.

R3 capability

• Eight peak-and-hold injector drives and eight ignition outputs.
• Four 25A high-current outputs plus six 8A half-bridge outputs.
• Single onboard NTK / Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband controller and internal 4-bar MAP sensor.
• 11 analogue voltage inputs, six synchronised pulsed inputs and dual knock inputs.
• Two CAN networks, USB-C, onboard Wi-Fi and 128MB internal logging.
• Dual drive-by-wire support and advanced boost, launch, traction, anti-lag, torque-management and engine-protection functions.
• Suitable for engines up to eight cylinders or four rotors.

Choosing the package

Select the ECU/VCU-only option when building or adapting a custom harness. Choose a plug-and-pin or universal-harness package when the installation requires the associated connector or wiring kit. Confirm engine I/O requirements, throttle strategy, wideband sensor type and installation layout before ordering.

Throttle / DBW suitability

DBW supported: Cable throttle and drive-by-wire (DBW) are supported. Nexus R3/R5 provide dual DBW throttle control.

Generic CAN (GCAN) — Current Beta Feature

Haltech identifies this Nexus ECU / display platform as eligible for Generic CAN (GCAN), its user-programmable CAN messaging feature. GCAN is provided at no additional licence cost on eligible Nexus hardware and can also be enabled on existing eligible units through the applicable firmware update.

• Create custom CAN messages for supported third-party devices and systems.
• Useful for OEM dash retention, CAN sensors, steering-wheel / switch controls, ABS data, loggers and other custom CAN integrations.
• Haltech currently specifies support for up to 30 CAN frames and 200 signals.

Important: GCAN is currently released by Haltech as a beta feature. Access requires opting into the applicable beta software / firmware through NSP. Check Haltech's current GCAN release instructions before updating, back up the existing configuration first and verify all connected-device operation after the update.
